What is “Factory” Chimney
Factory chimneys are manufactured products designed to vent gases produced by solid-fuel appliances. The CAN/ULC-S629 standard for Factory-Built Chimney requires testing to ensure it can withstand a chimney fire. Manufactured chimneys are certified to be installed with a minimum of 2″ of clearance to combustibles. Each manufacturer tests all components required for the safe installation of its products. The manufacturer will specify supports, shielding, firestops, flashings, and other components for specific locations within the building envelope.
Having access to the full range of components is critically important for a safe installation. Most big box retailers and online stores do not necessarily know which components may be required, and may not stock the full range of components needed for a safe installation.

Commercial Quality Venting
The solid-fuel venting we supply is professional-grade. Big-box stores and online retailers might sell products that meet the same certification standards, but the fit and finish of our products are significantly better. Better aesthetics alone justify the slightly higher initial price. We have access to the full range of products, allowing us to provide a broader array of installations and solutions for more complex venting situations. Lower-cost options for interior applications and installations requiring a smaller profile for clearance, as well as 2-inch-walled models for more demanding applications, such as exterior locations, are available.
